Declaring a Major or Minor

The Linguistics Department offers two majors and one minor: (a) Linguistics major, (b) Linguistics & Language major (Ling/Lang), and (c) Linguistics Minor.

Note: Haverford students do NOT need to declare their Linguistics major or minor at 51¶ÌÊÓƵ. Please follow the at Haverford.

For 51¶ÌÊÓƵ Students

  1. Email the BMC Major Advisor (currently Amanda Payne) to schedule a meeting.
  2. Come to this meeting prepared to discuss your motivations and objectives for majoring in Linguistics, the linguistics courses you have taken so far, and your plans for studying abroad and/or double majoring. We welcome double majors!
  3. During the meeting, we'll complete the Registrar's forms for declaring a major/minor.

If you have any questions, please contact Amanda Payne (apayne1@brynmawr.edu).
