Cynthia Archer ’75, a 25-year member of the 51¶جتسئµ Board of Trustees and its chair from 2021 to 2026, was presented with the Helen Taft Manning Award in recognition of her outstanding service to the College when the board gathered on campus for its April meeting.
The award is one of 51¶جتسئµâ€™s highest honors. It was established in 1980 in honor of Helen Taft Manning, former professor, dean, and acting president of 51¶جتسئµ.
“51¶جتسئµ is stronger, better resourced, more engaged with the world, and more aligned in its future direction than any before us might have imagined.†President Wendy Cadge said. “Your wit entertains us all as you laugh easily, think deeply, and care — in your own quiet way — even more.â€
Archer’s successor as board chair, Saskia Subramanian ’88, M.A. ’89, said: “From the time that I joined the board 10 years ago, Cynthia has been a role model, a leader, and a friend. She has demonstrated thoughtful deliberation, wisdom, and deep collegiality, and we as a board are all the better for these qualities in her stewardship.â€
The award will be commemorated with a physical marker at the Benham Gateway Building, home of the admissions office, honoring Archer’s commitment to making a 51¶جتسئµ education accessible.
